Going to keep this one short and sweet–and a little spicy! Yesterday, with the help of Dr. O, I achieved another of my goals for the next 1001 days.

We made a middle-eastern feast for dinner including our very own homemade hummus following a recipe called Jalapeno Hummus from Allrecipes.com. These are the ingredients:

Tahini sauce, lemon, cumin, garbanzo beans, garlic, crushed red pepper, and jalapenos.

While I was shopping for said ingredients, I came across this:

Is this the juice you pour out of the shell? Or squeezed from the meat? We may never know.

Why? Just. Why. Eew.

Anyway, back to the hummus: you basically just throw all the ingredients in a food processor and blend away!

Yummy! It turned out really well for my first attempt. I definitely plan on altering the recipe in future because this turned out pretty spicy (even using only half the can of jalapenos!).  Dr. O loved it and it was the right level of hot for him. Our feast also included homemade falafel (from a mix–you can find it near rice/quinoa in most grocery stores) and homemade naan using a recipe from Artisan Bread in 5 Minutes a Day (I got the book this past summer and it is wonderful–highly recommended to anyone who thinks baking bread should not make you feel like a total failure in the kitchen). It was a delicious feast, indeed.

It was a good night.

It was a good night.

So what are you cooking up these days? And what things are you checking off your list of cool life things to do?

Hi there!

Dr. O is an otorhinolaryngology resident. Mrs. O was an English major and is easily grossed out by blood and guts. This is the blog where Mrs. O documents their adventures in (not bloody) detail. Enjoy!
